The money is not much of a problem but im wondering if Ill regret getting a 12 cell, the only thing I wouldnt liek is that it sticks out. I use notebooks on my laps all the time, no matter how hot they get :D but im wondering if the battery sticking out will get uncomftorble, will it?

The battery edge will not get uncomfortable. Its a pretty small amount of weight overall, so its not like it gets heavy or anything. In my experience, the raised battery laptops are better on my lap because they keep the hot parts from sitting directly on my legs.

I have a MacBook Pro and its horrible to use on my laptop, get to the point where I need to put an extra shirt or something between the laptop and my pants. I am really surprised my MPB has not suffered from any failure relating to the heat generated from the thing.

If you can suffer through using a Macbook on your legs, anything else is an improvement.

The 12 cell battery rocks. It's a built in carrying handle, and props up the laptop for better air flow. Plus you'll get close to 5 hours of battery life.

I'm surprised more people don't say nice things about it. Most want the lightest laptop possible, but the 12 cell battery is worth it because of the extended battery time.

It make the back of the laptop prop up like 1 inch, and on the DV2000/2500, the battery is not perfectly in the middle so you have to position the laptop off to one side a little bit.

I really like my 12 cell, the only time it is a hassle is when I put it in a briefcase, in a backpack it does not seem to be a problem, but in a briefcase type bag the extra cells do effect how well the notebook fits. It is definately tighter where the battery is.

i dont think a "high capacity" battery is and bigger then a normal one but if you get a bigger batter (ie 12 is bigger then 6) it will stick out

You can take off the battery if you're planning to put in in your briefcase. The button cell will keep the BIOS info intact. I also have a briefcase type laptop carrier and place the battery on the side...fits nicely with the power brick. 12 cells are great... can last up to 5 hours depends on the power setting. A tad heavy but worth it.

i have both 8 cell and 12 cell. i mostly use the 8 cell to work and back because it's lighter and fits on my notebook cooler better. i only use the 12 cell in rare occassions when i know i'm going to be away from home for several hours without any AC outlets. really depends on your use. my notebook is rarely on my lap and i'm rarely away from an AC outlet for more than 2 hrs so if i had to choose 1 battery, i'd stick with the 8 cell.
