No. Your notebook uses DDR ram.. not DDR2.

Also, newegg.com may have better deals than bestbuy.

If your system came from the factory with 1GB, chances are it has 2x 512MB, so you will want to buy 2x 1GB.

Which version of the dv8000 do you own? If it is the Intel based dv8000t then you can use DDR2 memory, if it is the AMD based versions then you will have to use DDR memory.

Is there a particular reason you are buying memory from BB. All of those are pretty much over-priced and generic brands. Check out the notebook RAM deals thread for better prices.

I ran CPU-Z and it says that I have an Intel core Duo and that the memory is DDR2. I actually work at best buy so i get pretty nice deals when it comes to RAM, however if newegg has better prices i will shop there instead. Also, I am planning on buying two sticks since according to CPU-Z i have 2 512mb sticks and i will be replacing both. Any other tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

    thanks!

85 bucks for 1gb of DDR ram?! what a joke. newegg.com is the best way to go. I bet it would be cheaper buying the ram direct from www.crucial.com

Crucial sells it for more than NewEgg. 1G of DDR2 ram costs about $45.

hey if you're interested, i have a 1gb stick of Transcend ddr2 533 ram you could use for that thing. its works perfectly, i only used it for about 2 weeks. still have the package too. i bought it from newegg, its this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208300

pm me if you want, i suppose i could sell it, but i would rather trade it for a blu-ray or hd-dvd movie. even trade if its a movie i want. its got to be mint though.

actually, this sounds like a good idea for a new thread. i have SOOO much ram that i have accumulated over the last few years for all types of speeds and sizes.

    ram for blu-ray movies!
