Hey,
I just bought my first laptop, it's a Thinkpad T61, for college.
It is coming with a 1 gig sodimm stick of pc5400 667mhz memory.
I purchased 4 gigs to put in there, and if possible I want to take the 1 gig that came with it and put it into my Dad's HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop.
I am hoping the RAM will be compatible but I don't know. Can the PC5300 RAM run at the lower speed for the older Pavilion laptop? Are they even the same type of RAM, will it even fit?
I really hope it works, my Dad's laptop only has 512 megs of RAM right now and he really suffers because of it when he's doing his work. I think it would really help him to upgrade the ram!
If it doesn't work we'll just buy some ram for the HP but this would be nicer, and not waste the 1 gig that came with the Thinkpad.
FYI he has the Athlon 64 3200+ processor in his laptop. It is a pretty nice laptop. When I was deciding which brand to buy I almost went with HP but I was able to get a really big discount on the Thinkpad through my school.
Will this memory work in the Pavilion zv6000?
