Most of your drivers will get installed for the most part. Touchpad, Audio, and Ethernet get updated via Windows Update.

All you really have to install is the CIR Receiver, SD/MC/MS Card reader, Intel Matrix (they have drivers for Windows 7 online), and fingerprint reader.

Everything else shoudl work. If you want the ProtectSmart HD to work, update to the latest bios, f.21 i think. Then install ProtectSmart.

HP has said that they will not release their 'officially approved' drivers until after Win7 is officially released.

Having said that, companies like Intel, AMD, Nv, and ATi who make the components that go into HP laptops have all released Win7 drivers. These work just as well, or better than, what HP will release as softpaqs.

I'm dealing with awaiting printer releases myself ...

It amazes me that we get the same tired story from HP on drivers. There are so many that have the new OS already, they play it close to heart and like it's a f---ing secret to let them go, and on top of that when they are released after the OS; they still have buggy issues.

A suggestion to HP development; release early and beta test like the other mentioned vendors and quit sitting on your supposed reputation.

It would be amazing what would happen on both sides of the equation.

    FYI:

I just received my Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition today and installed it on my DV7t and between the Vista x64, Win 7 x64, and the Windows 7 built in x64 drivers everything is working perfectly so far...

Even my HP Officejet J6480 seamlessly installed in Win 7 x64
