    WinXP CD from HP?

    My dv1635 came with WinXP pre loaded, but no CD. Somebody told me that most laptop makers will send you a free CD if you call them and ask for it. He was talking about Dell, but does HP do that too?

    I would rather have that than all the backup stuff.

    Yeah call them and ask for the WinXP CD and the Driver CD. They should send you these free of charge. However they might want to bill you $10. But if you complain enough you might get them free. :p

    You have a recovery partition so that you can burn your own recovery disks. Only once, though.

    They sent me the drivers and Window's cd for free after a couple of online chats.
