This is probably old news by now, but i haven't been on here lately, and didn't find much from searching. I know hp doesn't support windows 7 on their dv2500 models. I figure i can install it, 7 will find most of the drivers automatically, then I'll have to search for a couple on my own. Any of you guys install 7 on a 2500? I'm guessing i can just take drivers from the dv4 or another similar model, but i figured I'd ask first to see if you guys already experimented.

    Thanks

IIRC, you'll need to manually install HP Vista drivers for the smart card reader, HP Vista drivers for the NVIDIA chipset on AMD notebooks, NVIDIA graphics drivers from nvidia.com on Intel notebooks with NVIDIA dedicated GPUs... hmm, it seems like there was one other one? Nearly everything gets appropriate drivers from Windows Update though Update will mark a few of them as "optional" for you to manually select.

Don't forget to flash in the latest BIOS before installing Win7. If you don't have a BIOS that runs the fan 24x7, especially on AMD notebooks, install the update regardless.

Great, Thanks for the info. I installed it on my desktop and really liked it, so I figured I'd give it a go on my laptop. Students get it for 30 bucks so I cant really go wrong.
