So I just installed windows 7 RC on my dv3t today, and it is such a new enhanced experience! I love the more sleek, smooth, and faster OS already. I have installed many necessary drivers to run W7, did updates, and organized all tools (Advanced System Care, Smart Defrag, etc.) It's a real champ. There are some things on HP's side I need to address to make the 100% of my W7 experience fulfilled.

    1. Where is the GeForce 105M driver for W7 64bit? I looked on NVidia's site, and tried 6 different drivers, for Vista and W7 64bit, and the audio is the only part that was installed. This interferes with the native resolution, and I am having to use 1280 x 720.

    2. Brightness setting is not visible anywhere in control panel, and the FN keys to alternate brightness (F7 and F8) do not work. The screen remains at full brightness. How can I fix this?

    3. The fingerprint reader does not seem to work. In Vista, I had Digital Persona, but cannot seem to find a way to render it useful on W7. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places?

Those are the only obstacles I am facing now. Everything else is awesome!

Don't tell me you do not have the brightness control in Power Options. The Fn brightness keys work fine for me btw, no drivers installed. Oh wait. They are controlled by the nVidia GPU so that's why they don't work, no video driver. Try www.laptopvideo2go.com . :) This will fix 1) and 2) i bet.

    3) I have no idea, as my laptops do not have a fingerprint reader, nor would i need one.

Just in case you don't have the correct driver for the Validity Fingerprint sensor, use the driver HP provides for Vista 64-bit: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2100&product=3919621

Digital Persona software (Vista 64-bit): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2100&product=3919621

Be sure to install the Validity Fingerprint driver first, before you install the Digital Persona software. If you've installed the Validity Fingerprint driver after you installed Digital Persona, you'll need to uninstall Digital Persona and reinstall it in order for Digital Persona to recognize the fingerprint reader even if the correct driver was installed.

I currently have the Fingerprint reader and Digital Persona running flawlessly in Windows 7 RC 64-bit. Hope that helps.

OMG super sorry for that! I did look into your link previously but gave up for some reason (I think the driver information was down and I had to search aimlessly in the forums). So in turn, I went to NVidia's site. Thank you!!! I will try this driver. :)

And thank you too for the fingerprint driver/software! :) This will also be very helpful. :D

Update! The fingerprint driver/software runs perfectly, yet the driver does not work. I extracted using 7zip and ran setup.exe. I got to the NVidia driver installation, when an error message popped up. It said the application could not detect any hardware that can be applied with this driver. Help appreciated. Maybe the driver hasn't been released yet for the NVidia GeForce 105m?

I'm betting you haven't applied the INF correctly. On the driver download page there is a second link which says "download INF file". After extracting the driver you have to copy nv_disp.inf in the driver folder, overwriting the original one. Then run setup and it'll work fine.
