I installed windows 7 on a 6 month old DV5z with blu-ray drive. Everything works except it doesn't play blu-ray movies. I've installed a few drivers (quickplay, video) from the HP website but it still won't play.

Before I scrap the whole thing and go back to Vista, does anybody know if it's possible to play blu-ray on Windows 7? Which driver should I install?

Unfortunately in an attempt to save money Microsoft has said that windows 7 will not have native blu-ray support. Check this link to read more. The cost of the blu-ray license will add an extra $30 to windows 7 final cost and Microsoft doesn't want this cost increase so they have decided not to include support.

You will need to download third party software(try WinDVD or Powerdvd) in order to watch blu-ray movies in windows 7.
