Has anyone got a shipping confirmation or tracking number from Arvato for their Windows 7 upgrade? I've received nothing yet and my order status on the Arvato page is "ACCEPTED", but there is no shipment confirmation or tracking number.

Same thing for me. I contacted HP and they said they expect the upgrades to ship within the next week or so.

I'm really curious if it's standard Microsoft media that's being shipped. Moreso, I wonder if the included product key will work on a non-HP system.

They should have provided a download option like many other Win7 programs going on right now. Surely that's cheaper than mailing physical copies.

If they are mailing physical ones, doesnt that pretty much mean that it has a sticker...? I mean, its going to be the exact same copy that they ship to everyone, minus the edition (ie home, pro, ult,) wont it?

The discs will ship with a COA label, but no case sticker.

that makes perfect sense. they don't want to ship out windows 7 upgrade kits to people who can still return their pc within the 21 day window to HP.

i received my on the 21st and it was ordered on 16th. so conceivably, people who ordered theirs on oct. 17th, the last day you could by a pc from HP w/ vista and qualify for the upgrade, would've received it on the 22nd... 21 days later is nov. 12th.

i plan on returning my hdx 18 soon for a dv8... i was wondering what would happen if i would've gotten the windows 7 upgrade before I returned it. mine is just showing 'accepted' and probably won't ship until nov. 12th.

This is what they told me:

You can expect to receive your upgrade kit between October 30 and November 9, 2009.

Good thinking; you may be right about this. To that end, this may also mean that the upgrade kit is not locked to a particular PC. I may go ahead and install Win7 on my desktop PC in the hopes that the key provided will work on it.
