    Hi all,

    I've got a really strange problem :(

I just purchased a used NC6320 and am trying for hours to install Windows 7 x64.

Previously, I increased the memory to 4GB (2x 2GB Hynix RAM) and made a BIOS update to the latest version performed.
The hard drive is one NTFS partition of about 80GB.

I am also able to install Windows 7 without error.

However, it seems the ensuing restart and after every other boot attempt, I only get a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left

I've tried various BIOS setting changes, but all to no avail.

After that, I checked the hard disk and RAM with tools from Hiren's Boot CD and other Rescue-CDs, all without any errors!

What could only be the problem?

I'm really not a newbie what concerns PCs and have already installed multiple operating systems on different computers, but now I don't have any idea left...

Many greetings and thanks for your help ever

    Mischa

Does Intel or HP have a Windows 7 x64 chipset driver for your board? If not, use the one HP released for Vista. Truthfully, I couldn't tell you what the problem is, however that is where I would start to resolve it.

    yes.

are you installing the F6 installation file for SATA when you install windows 7 or using the computer in IDE?

uhm i'm trying to remember what the setting is called in the old machines, i think it's "Sata native mode" if thats on, and you've not installed the driver then it'll have issues, but if you're running it without, I would check what your BOOT ORDER is on the machine.

you could have accidentally left it to CD and not selected the hard drive in the boot menu.

Hit escape or F9 when you boot to choose your hard drive, and see if you can find your hard drive in the list to boot from manually.
