There has been a lot of speculations lately on this problem, and unfortunately the only solution for a stable system is sticking with Windows 7. You see AMD's graphics is not like Nvidia's. They have to send the driver software to HP and let folks there compile a "switchable" package, which comes with Intel's graphics software as well. For Nvidia's cards, you install the two drivers separately, which makes things a lot easier. Nvidia deploy drivers after they finish making them. People don't have to wait for another party compile things for them.
Just wait man. Honestly, I feel your pain. I've installed and wiped my Envy 15 3000 for like 10 times already.

What's the best drivers to use with the Envy 15-3xxx right now? I constantly have video drivers crash on Windows 7. I'm just using FIXED BIOS mode with the drivers pushed out through Windows Update.

(I have Windows 8 32-bit in a VirtualBox VM and that is fairly stable.)
