So I've swapped out the Factory HDD with a 512 GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD. Performed a clean install of Windows 8 Pro onto the SSD.(deleted all the partitions until there was Disk 0 --> Single Unallocated Space)

The result was that under Computer I had "Local Disk (C :)". 444 GB free of 476 GB.

    And under Disk Management:
300 MB -- Healthy (Recovery Partition)
100 MB -- Healthy (EFI System Partition)
476 GB -- Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

So I'm thinking the clean install went smoothly....

So right away I went to HP's website and navigated to the Drivers & Downloads page for the Envy 17t-j000 CTO Quad Edition

Now when I went to the HP Driver website some of the sp6XXXX files didn't work. Specifically these below which I thought were important:

    1) Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver (sp61266) ---> The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software
    2) Broadcom Bluetooth Software (sp62225) ---> No bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue installation.
    3) Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver (sp61325) ---> The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software
    4) Intel Wireless Display Software (sp62309) ---> The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi or the application is in use

Now the Bluetooth device doesn't show up under "Devices" under Hardware & Sound. However if I right click on the laptop icon, there's an option for Bluetooth Settings so I'm wondering if it truly recognized the bluetooth device with my laptop.

Anyways I was wondering why the HP drivers for those 4 things I listed above aren't working and what steps you guys took to get those functions working. Should I go straight to Intel's website to download the drivers for them? Does the Envy 17t even support WiDi for example?

Lastly for those of you who performed a clean install of Win8 did you guys download and install the following"
    1) HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment

If your laptop doesn't have the hardware, then the driver won't install.
Check 'Device Manager' for any (!), or any indication of any devices not working.

    1) Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver (sp61266) - Is for remote access, it may not be on your laptop or might be disabled.
    2) Broadcom Bluetooth Software (sp62225) - you may have the Realtek LAN. Did that driver install?
    3) Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver (sp61325) - Is for the mSATA SSD partition that is used for system info storage to resume from hibernate. If you don't have a mSATA SSD then you don't need this driver.
    4) Intel Wireless Display Software (sp62309) - see #2 above, if you don't have the Intel lan/wifi hardware then you won't be able to install this.

To check which LAN/WIFI you have, in search enter 'msinfo32' and click on it, when the window pops up expand 'Components' > 'Network' > 'Adapter', you will see the Brand name and model number.

    1) I don't know if remote access is on my laptop or not to be honest? What's the best way to figure out? I have Windows 8 Pro installed as I mentioned and I thought that it had certain features like Remote Access?

    2) The Realtek LAN driver DID Install. Afterwards I tried to install the Broadcom Bluetooth Software thinking it was also necessary since I had ordered my laptop with Bluetooth. Yet that one didn't work and gave me the message I laid out in my original post.

    3) That makes perfect sense then. I don't have an mSATA SSD so it's not needed. Thanks for that clarification.

    4) Like I said the Realtek LAN driver did install correctly and from what I understand the Envy 17t does support WiDi so I'm wondering why the downloads from HP's website aren't working.

    Under Network Connections I have

    1) Bluetooth Device
    2) Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    3) Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230

Lastly for those of you who performed a clean install of Win8 did you guys download and install the following"
    1) HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment

I can answer questions better once my 17t-j000 arrives, hopefully Monday/Tuesday. Have been researching several things to save time when I set it up, so have a few things I can feel confident about, others are from previous experience and general knowledge on Win8.

    1) Check the settings, this link will explain how: Remote Desktop: Frequently asked questions

    2) Check that Bluetooth is enabled in UEFI. Haven't seen any other Realtek driver for it.

    3) You're welcome.

    4) Could be HP D/L issue, best to find the exact hardware installed.

What does the 'Device Manager' say under 'Network Adapters'?
This will tell you what WiFI device is installed and what drivers you have installed.

Will look at the HP UEFI Support Environment when I get my hands on the laptop, will let you know if I think it's ok.
Most OEM software does cause stability issues including BSODs, I have fixed many BSOD issues by un-installing OEM software.

I PM'ed you but I don't know if you've had a chance to look at it yet.....

I'm going to leave the system as is right now and do some more research before I try and install any of the other 3 drivers from Intel's own website....

Drivers are setup to not install if you don't have the components or it isn't needed.
If you install one and have issues you can go to 'Device Manager' and 'Rollback' or uninstall the driver.

My Envy 17t-j finally arrived, been cloning drives, testing the procedures. Had a self inflicted issue and ran a clean install last night, which was my plan all along.
No issues with the clean install using MS Win8 ISO, installed the drivers I wanted, no bloatware.
Running great with my Samsung 128GB 840 Pro and 1TB 7200RPM data drive.

That's great but it doesn't really address my original question/issue. Did you try any of the 3 drivers that I mentioned above and if so did you get the same result or did they install without issue.

That would actually be useful information to have so I can compare....I too have Windows 8 up and running without any issues. But I was hoping to settle these few remaining driver issues before I moved on to installing all the programs I usually use from day to day......

This is for remotely managing your laptop, Since I'm not going to use this feature I didn't install the driver.

It's telling you there is no Broadcom hardware in your laptop, mine is the Intel Centrino–N 2230, so yours may be as well.
Did you check the hardware, as mentioned above, that will answer your question.

This requires a partition on the SSD to be available for storing the Rapid Start files required for this to work, If you installed your own SSD you won't have that partition.
I don't use that function as my laptop starts up very fast with the Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD.

I've looked into this, the software requires a TV tuner card to function.
Will look into it further as I may want this working later.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
