It seems to only want to use the Intel HD Graphics. The Catalyst drivers from HP fail to install, saying
If I try Windows 7 compatibility mode, it freezes (wait loop maybe?)

A fix is available with sp53025, found from this link: how to enable switchable graphics on windows 8(consumer - Microsoft Answers
Just install it, and you're golden. Having a bit of a problem switching from the integrated gpu back to the dedicated gpu, but at least the radeon 6770m works now. Just don't switch to the Intel HD Graphics unless you're willing to restart.
edit:
I guess a restart doesn't work, you need to choose dedicated graphics in Catalyst, then open up Device Manager, find the 6770M, right-click it and select "Enable". Metro won't work with the 6770M enabled (tiles are black squares, see attachment)Attached Files:

Thanks for the post, scy1192. I was considering to upgrade to win 8, but thanks to you, I am not going to do it

It works well enough, just use Intel HD Graphics unless you want to play a game. There should be an update before RTM.
