    Hey,

I just installed windows 8.1 and i am noticing high idle cpu temperatures. The idle temperature is roughly around 60C. Coming from Windows 8, i am noticing almost a 10C increase in idle temperature.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have the latest drivers from intel, my fans are cleaned.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook.

The switchable graphics driver is not working properly so the ATti card is always on. Try uninstalling the 2 graphic drivers and then install latest intel Iris graphic driver, reboot and then install the latest amd graphic driver. Or check oh hp for a driver update.

    Hey!

    Thanks for the reply.

How can i check that the ATI is always on? dxdiag shows that i am using the Intel HD graphics. I guess it would make a lot of sense that the reason that i have higher idle temps is because the ATI card is always on. Is there a way to not use it? I never use the ATI card.

    Thanks!

Manual mode orDynamic? On switchable if you right click on desktop the AMD is active when there's the AMD submenu. Also You should check the chipset driver aswell. If its not installed properly, maybe the cpu power management isn't working. Also with intel + amd I think you should check out the newest Leshcat driver set. It brings down the temperatures at idle as well as at max stress.

edit: I suggest using the manual switching both with the default drivers and with the Leshcat one aswell. But if you never use the amd card you can use manual mode and switch to intel then leave it as is.

The best is to uninstall both driver : Intel and amd with the add/remove program feature, restart then install last driver from intel, restart and install latest driver from AMD and restart again.

If the intel driver was install with windows update, you need to open device manager and uninstall from the driver property.
