I recently bought a HPdv5 and reformatted it due to insane amt of bloatware. Before reformatting, my WEI Graphic score was 5.0 but after reformatting it became 4.8. I have a Nvidia 9600m gt inside with driver version 180.

Can you tell me what's wrong? Is it possible that my GC has become faulty?

I had the exact same issue when I wiped the HD on my new HDX 16t last week. I went from 5.1 to 4.8, but then hacked the XML file back to 5.1. :)

I'd also like to know why the WEI dropped.

so it is quite safe to assume that there's no issue with the hardware?

no, it's not a hardware issue. I wonder if HP installed some driver that souped up performance...?

I wouldn't really worry about WEI too much. It is not indicative of true performance, just rough estimations. Mine goes up and down all the time without changing anything on my computer.

Try one of the official graphics drivers from the hp site and see if it goes back up to 5.0. I'm using the HP official 179.04 driver and it gives me a 5.0. (you can find that one at www.laptopvideo2go.com, it is a signed WHQL driver from HP).

Depending on how many drivers you updated before reformatting maybe you still have a lot of the stock ones.

WEI is unreliable anyway, so long as you're not getting any major performance lags it doesn't sound like there's anything wrong.
