A few days ago, I tried to install Windows Vista 32-Bit Utimate Edition on my HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook to see what the Windows Experience Index is.

However, I quickly restored it to Windows XP Professional Edition because it is much faster and easier to use :)

Here is the spec of my notebook:

    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
    2x1GB Hynix DDR2-667Mhz PC2-5300 Notebook Ram
60GB Hitachi 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
    256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
    LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
HP Mobile Remote Control Express Card

your graphics scores are 3.7 and 3.3?

That's what you get for choosing a crappy video card. If you had spent a few more bucks up front for quality video, your Windows Vista experience would have been a richly rewarding creature comfort indeed.

Well, 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 7400 isn't such a crappy video card, it's either this or that Intel integrated card for the dv6000t when you customize it ...

Anyway, I'm still hoping for the finalized video driver for Vista, might increase the scores slightly...

Before you start insulting other users about their system build and Windows Vista Experience Index score, you should have realized that the Index score is indeed flawed and not an accurate benchmark for graphics card or any other hardware in your system. Do a little more research.

I am glad to hear that. Because my index score is only 2.2 with GMA 950. I bought from BB , so no way to customize the video card.

Well, in your case, the Intel GMA 950 is far below Nvidia GeForce 7400GS performance wise. You shouldn't worry about the WEI Score.

Also, the 256MB GeForce 7400 is the highest graphics card you can upgrade to on the DV6000T.

I have about the same spec as you and the only thing u can do is try to tweak your drivers here and there. Besides all graphics card drivers for vista is still buggy. But due to some hibernation problem in XP I might go back to it.

Other than your tiny hard drive, your setup is certainly adequate (about the same as mine). I've never tried XP on mine though. At least if I did, maybe my stupid webcam would work. It's true that there are a lot of problems with Vista.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a good Vista experience, but hopefully you'll come back to it soon. It's really a much better OS than XP.

But you shouldn't use a number to see how good your computer is, especially when the number can be distorted by drivers. I much prefer to use my computer for things and see if it works...which it does. :p

Why do so many people still insist the WEI Score is as important and correct as so many people assume? If you want a true benchmark, use 3dMark06. I use it all the time for graphics benchmarking and I get the scores on that which are expected from the similar system builds.
