Hey guys, after updating my DV2000z Bios from F.23 to F.34 when windows loaded again I noticed that the cpu kept running at full speed, and the temp went up to 70c while I did not had any program open. So I opened task manager, that was reporting 58 processes running, and I noticed that some of processes where running multiple times at once. Its that ok? and is there a way from keeping this processes from running multiple times I am not sure if it have to do with the Bios update.
Here is a screen shot of the Task manager showing some of the processes that are running multiple times.

Svchost is fine, that is a Windows process that is used to start up other required parts of Windows.

Try sorting the list by "CPU" usage and you will see which processes are actually doing things.

Also when you say you are running at full speed do you mean that you processor is not stepping down to lower speeds or that it is running at 100% all the time in Windows Monitor?

Seeing as you just updated your BIOS and assuming you did not have this problem before I would say it is a problem with the BIOS and not Windows or processes.

I meant not stepping down from 1.6ghz to 800mhz, while on Balanced power option. But I still have to check it again since I had to go to work right after upgrade Bios.

Yeah seeing as you updated your BIOS that just before this happened I would think that is the cause.

Maybe go into the BIOS and double check the settings, make sure nothing got reset.

I can take care about the Bios, easily but I want to know if that amount of processes that I get isn't too high for not habing any program open.

Ahh I see. I am running XP and a clean install to remove junk. So I am running 33 processes.

Any Vista users care to post how many processes the have running?

    Not really.

Many services, drivers, and modules load at system startup and are essential to system operation. Even though they show up in Task Manager, they're still critical.

You can run tasklist, which displays a list of applications and services with their Process ID (PID) for all tasks running on either a local or a remote computer.

Here's a little information about tasklist:

Sorry guys. I should have been a little more clear on who I was addressing. My post was for f15, but hopefully CodeMonkey can use the information, as well. :)

Thanks guys for the replies, and for the Task list information. Well I just got back from work, and it seems to be doing ok, I left it on and it was idle 36c. And still running the 58 processes. I play around with Task list and see what I can find out, but I think I am going to be fine.
