I'm asking this question because i need specific answer from people with dv5ts.
I have vista on a 160gb partition and made a 50gb partition for xp.
I followed the guide to install xp on dv5t but the only step i changed was using sp2 instead of sp3.
I burned the iso to a flash drive using win2flash and ran it.
So far, everything is going well, i format the partition, and setup copying the files over. once it hits 100%, it has to reboot so you can type in username, time region etc.
Once it reboots, it gives me this message:
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem
I can't even boot into vista now.
I went online to search how to fix it, and they told me to use my vista recovery discs and choose startup repair and that will solve the problem. i booted from recovery discs and Hp recovery discs don't have startup repair option.
I then tried to use xp pro discs but it gave me the same error.
Anyone with any ideas?

Just so we are on the same page, so to speak, the Recovery Discs mentioned are not the Restore Discs you made when you got your notebook.
You can download whatever ISO version of the Vista Recovery Disk you need here: http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/.
Once downloaded burn the ISO to DVD using a program such as Active ISO Burner (Free) to make your Recovery Disk.
