I'm looking for some help with my new DV6258. as posted in another thread when it comes out of sleep, hibernation, or from off, the wireless will not work. i have to restart the computer again to make it work. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless driver, but the issue still remains. is anyone else having this issue? is there any other possible solutions? the driver is a broadcom 802.11. thanks

Try waiting a few minutes after bringing it out of hibernation/sleep... it takes a little while

There's another current thread about broadcom drivers and sleep/hibernation. May have to update your driver if possible.

I have a similar, though much more serious, problem on my dv6000 laptop. My wireless stop working altogether. The wireless light won't turn blue and the wireless adapter is gone from the device manager. About once every 10 days it will come back to life, but usually only until the next hibernation or turn-off. I've tried reinstalling and updating both the broadcomm drivers and hp wireless assistant. I think it is a hardware problem, though I cannot rule out a bad driver since the problem is sometimes related to hibernation/stand by, and some other people are facing similar problems with their wireless and hibernation. HP wants me to send in my laptop, but I cannot afford to be w/out my laptop for the moment.

I can see that I'm not alone. I'm experiencing the problem also.

The laptop cannot find any available network after the lid of the laptop was lifted and still has not been able to find the network after shutting down and starting the laptop and the blue light is on for the wireless adapter. I had the latest version of drivers when this occurred and uninstalled them, then I reinstalled them and the problem still persists. Hibernation is not enabled and all of the Advanced Power options are set as "Stand by." It is a Pavilion dv6000 CTO notebook with the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG adapter. I used NetStumbler to check if I could see the Access Point (AP) and it finds it but the signal is erratic. If anyone is familiar with NetStumbler I will include an image of the graph view (link).
    Link: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/BayouJack/NetStumbler.jpg

I used a PC with a wireless adapter and can connect to the AP. So it's not the AP.

I hope someone can shed some light on the subject.

I also have the same problem. About a week ago the wireless just stopped working. I checked the device manager to see if there were any problems, and the Broadcom wireless device was nowhere to be seen. It did show up when I checked HP Info Center program that came with the laptop.

Next I checked out the bios. There are NO advanced options in the bios, just security, boot options, and diagnostics.

I reinstalled the latest Broadcom drivers and reinstalled the HP wireless assistant just incase that would help. No change.

I have the DV6060us, and my bios version is F.12

    So,

I became desperate and frustrated. I have had problems like these on other hp laptops, this one is actuallly a replacement for one they couldn't fix after sending it in over four times.

I need this laptop to work so I broke out the recovery dvds. No change. The wireless device is still not in the device manager.

At this point I have no idea what to do.

Has anyone else had any luck? I hope my wireless card didn't just die. I think the warranty ran out a month ago.

Hmmm. The recovery DVDs didn't solve your problem? Did it do a Destructive Recovery or just recovered the OS and drivers. I did a Destructive Recovery from the Recovery partition and now my wireless connection is working again.

Word to the wise: Don't close your laptop lid while it's on or you'll lose your wireless connection.

I did a destructive recovery. I am going to call HP today and see what they have to say.

I have been having similar problem in my DV4000 lately. Of course, it happened right after the warranty expired. Every now and then, I need to shut down the laptop, remove the battery, and re-sit the miniPCI interface to get it to work again. After I switched to us the Broadcom WiFi utility to connect (rather than the Windows' one), it is now more stable. In addition, the USB ports are having intermittent problem too. I guess I am ready to get a new laptop. Too bad that this one is not even 18 months old yet. The good thing is I can keep the SODIMM for the new laptop.

ok i sent my laptop back to hp-they collected and returned it-changed the motherboard and the ram on it,but yay it fixed it,seems wierd to be happy it had broken, but atleast it means it wasnt somthing id done to the wirless on it

wirless can be flakey at the best of times so once somthing starts working eratically , i have to tendancy to try things, just relieved am not going mad.
if its not in the device manager its either not connected or not workin

the uk hp were very helpfull once i got put through them .That said i did spend 3 hours talking to the callcenter maybe in india, going over the same things getting cut off and not being called back.

I just thought I'd post here because I know the torment I went through when I was having these problems...

I bought an HP dv6095ea in September 06, but December the wireless would work on and off. This was alright because for the most part I didn't need it.

Then my screen would occasionally not work. By this time my wireless had completely given up...

After about a month of the screen not working more and more frequently it just gave up.

After being sent to HP, they replaced the motherboard and nothing else, it has come back and I'm writing this on it now, in perfect condition.

HP UK were alright (although it blatantly wasn't in the UK) - but I was in a hurry and could already tell them the answers to the solutions they tried to get me to do so it was all over and done with smoothly.

For those with wireless connectivity problems specially with the WRT54G from linksys, try reseting your router to the factory setting and to your specs, that worked for me..

Just an update of my case. I got a replacement wireless card from HP, but that didn't change anything. The problem turned out to be the motherboard. I sent my laptop back to HP and they changed it and now the wireless is working again.

I'm still skeptical about this fix. I encountered these issues back in September. HP quickly sent me a replacment wireless card which didn't correct the problem. I finally had to send my laptop in and they repaired it. What irritated me is they didn't eplain what they had repaired, only that the issue was "repeatable." My thoughts were that if it was repeatable, what could I do to prevent it, or what can I do if it occured again?

In the middle of December I got an email from HP about a critical BIOS update which also included the notice for the HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement. I didn't really think too much of the limited warranty service enhancement because my laptop was working fine. I also thought that since I already had it reapaired due to the issues described, my laptop was in the clear. Well, it's not. I turned on my laptop yesterday to discover it having the same issues. The wireless adapter won't turn on and it's not detected in the Device Manager.

Now this really drives me nuts! I know that I'm covered under their service enhancement, but is this going to be a regular issue with this machine? Should I be prepared to send it in to have the motherboard, or whatever, replaced every couple months? How many times do I have to go through this before they realize that this model is just a wash?

There is a service call from HP on a significant list of 2000/6000/9000 series notebooks about wireless problems....They have extended the warranty on these notebooks for 24 months. Contact HP and see what they can do for you.
