Hi friends, I have a problem with wireless of my Pavilion DV6385eu.
It finds a network in the neighbourhood and I can connect it and surf on internet.
But when I go to school, it can't find the network althogh the other guys can surf with this wireless modem.
Why my laptop can't find this wireless network (however it finds at my home from a different user's modem)??
Does my laptop choose modems like "it is ok I can connect and this is not good I dont want to find it?"![]()
What is ur suggestions?

1. What type of signal does the school use? A, B, G?
2. Is the school using a blind broadcast? If it does you have to know the SSID and pertinent password.
3. Your neighbor didn't secure his broadcast. -
-
You have to ask your school Tech guy if the signal is broadcasting if it is not you need him to tell you the SSID and password -
2nd, wireless is broadcasting, the other guys can use it with theri laptops.
3rd, there is not a hidden SSID or a password.
4th and the last, everything is OK and simple but why my laptop can't find the wireless network of the school and why can't I use it?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
First, brush up on your English. Second, why are you bolding and enlarging the text...to emphasize your apprehension? Third, what is the error message or if any message in that case you are receiving when trying to join the school network?
-
lol yeah i mean we all got your point from your first post, no need to tell us via extra humongous texts.
upgrade your wireless driver? check what kinda network it is a b g n
maybe u can ask one of the other students to help u -
sorry for my English. I do not have a good English. Forgive me.
there isn't any error message. school modem has the b network. my wireless supports 802.11 a/b/g
10x 4 ur help. but I am hepless. -
So how do you know your not connected to the network? Did you check your network connections for a signal and receiving/sending?
-
Does your school have tech support that you can go to?
-
No it does not have a school tech support. -
But my laptop cannot find a network to join although the other guys can find and use it.
From this point, I can say "there is a problem with my laptop" but it works because I can join my neighbours' wireless network with no difficulty, by doing nothing extra.
From this point, I can say "there is a problem with the wireless modem at the school" but it works because the other teachers who use laptop can easily join and use the net.
There is neither a password nor a hidden SSID.
What can I do? -
Is it authenticated through a domain or something like that?

What can I do?
What r ur suggestions? -
Why don't you ask your classmates how they access the internet at school? Let me guess; they're all using different computers with different oses? Right? At the very least get the name of the network and the key if needed and set up a connection on your laptop manually for that.

Someone earlier asked whether you've updated the driver for your wireless card - have you done that yet? You might try allowing the Windows Zero Configuration tool to make or repair the connection for you. If you've already tried that, let the wireless tool for your card do the work.
In my own case, the last time I had an issue, I discovered that Zero Configuration just didn't work for me, so I disabled it and my connection has been fine since.
This may help. If not, the manufacturer of your wireless card probably has info on its site which should help you.
