Well basically you know how on all laptops there is a on/off switch for the wireless internet. Mine gets reset to "off" each time Windows restarts. The switch is still in the "on" but I get the orange light and basically I have to move the switch to off then on, then the light turns on(blue) and it works. It's kind of annoying but not a life breaker, though a fix would be nice.
Nothing new to my system or anything, it's actually been like this for months but never really cared till' now. Specs in sig. Thanks guys.

It must be something with the software. My only guess would be to update the drivers.

Since it's a physical switch, I would check if there is a newer bios on the HP website. The bios is really what initializes your system's hardware during boot.

Probably not a BIOS issue, generally the wifi radio is off until a software driver sends a call to activate it or the switch tells the driver to do that when switched on. It sounds like your driver isn't making the function call to turn the wireless card on when windows loads it. If you can find someone with the same card and you can find the driver properties in regedit you might be able to compare and see if there's a missing key or something. On my G50 you have to add a couple lines to the windows XP driver to get the switch to function properly, though in that case the driver does still turn the wireless on, just not the light.

What model wireless card do you have? Probably any similar HP with the same one should have the correct registry entries if that really is the issue.

Anyone? :]
