Hi everyone, so my cousin in India wants to get a laptop for school, so my family was planning on either buying a new one and giving that to him or I keep this new laptop but give away mine. The laptop that my parents just bought is a brand new hp dv6809wm from walmart. It has an AMD Turion 64X2 at 2.0ghz with 3gb of ram and a geforce 7150m, all for $400 cuz my mom works at walmart and she gets discounts and stuff. The laptop that I will have to trade is my dv8000 which of course has a larger display but, i'm looking for in terms of hardware. The dv8000 has an AMD Turion 64 at 1.8 ghz with 768mb of ram and an ati radeon xpress 200m which I purchased two years ago for like $799. Would this be a good trade off in the sense of hardware? I know the graphics card is weak but hopefully as soon as the asus ROG XG station comes out, I'll buy one of those and a separate flat panel for games and stuff. So what do you think?

Get the new one with the 7150. It will be a tad better at gaming, and if you overclock it, it's definitely gaming worthy. Assuming it has an nforce motherboard, you can also lower the ram timings and bump up the cpu fsb to make it even faster, but maybe I am getting ahead of myself...

yah it does have an nforce 630m motherboard so I guess you have a good point there. and of course overclocking would probably increase fps in games.
