Just wanted to know is it would be possible? What I am doubtful about is the size etcetera. I might consider it if it lives upto its expectations.

Yes, an upgrade would be possible -- if you just buy a completely new laptop.

Montevina isn't a processor. It refers to an entirely new mobo + chipset in addition to a new revision of the Penryn processor.

    montevina upgrade for what ?
is it your laptop you are talking about, or more generally about all laptops now based on santa rosa plattform ?

well, i guess if hp puts the montevina platform into your dv2699 and they do not alter the chassis design you might have a good chance to get a new mobo and graphics card into your old chassis. but i rather don´t think that will happen. whenever the montevina notebooks will enter the market hp will most likely build a new chassis and refresh it´s notebook lineup.

so i think most likely the chances are not too good. but when montevina hits the market and you order the mobo and graphics card as spares, you will have to pay quite some money. why not rather sell your old notebook and add it to the money you would pay for such an upgrade and buy an whole new laptop? makes much more sense for me.

Montevina is not worth a new motherboard + a new CPU.
