    Would this hard drive be compatible with a Compaq Presario CQ50-115NR?

    I'm wondering if this hard drive would fit in and be compatible with my laptop:

    I'm not sure if this 12mm, 2.5 inch drive would fit in it or be compatible with it. I plan to purchase this one if it is indeed compatible and will fit.

    Otherwise, if not, then can someone recommend another internal 750 GB SATA 3 Gb/s 8 MB Cache 5200 or 5400 hard drive for me that is just as good quality as Western Digital? Must be compatible and fit.

    No won't fit. The WD 640GB 5400RPM does though and it has quicker seek time thna the 750 because the 640 is only 2 platters instead of 3.

    Would leaving the hatch open solve the problem if I wanted to get it to fit?

    I may take you up on your recommendation, otherwise.

    It might, but is it really worth the extra 110 GB? Besides the 640 will be faster since it only has 2 platters instead of 3 like the 750.

    For the extra ~110GB use an external USB HDD enclosure and stick what you have in there now.

    Well, I didn't need the extra space. I just planned two have two operating systems on it plus a lot of Windows games on it, such as Diablo II and etc. Planning to dual-boot Windows and Linux on it.

    Linux would be the one I use the most with Windows being for games only.

    So no, I guess I didn't really need the extra 110.

    I settled for the 640 as recommended since it actually fits and is better priced.
