I had the F572US lap top and was happy with it. However, there was a motherboard problem that affected the WIFI. Sent it back for repair, they said they replaced the board but the problem persisted. At this point the CSR gave me a phone number for "manager" hot line. I explained everything and she said "since I was patient and courteous she would send me a new computer..."

I assumed it would be the same thing. However, she said it was the C700T with the T2310 dual core and the X3100....at the time I was not happy (I hate DUAL core) so I told her I'd do a little research and call her back.

To my amazement the T2310 is the Merom core with the 965 chipset....essentially making it a Core 2 Duo at 533 bus and 1 MB cache instead of 800/2 MB cache.(As evidenced by CPU-Z) Also, I researched the X3100 and it is getting decent reviews so I decided to take the deal.

Anyway, I called back and she "upped" the HD from 80 to 120 GB and gave me the "lightscribe and brightview screen" at no extra charge. They paid all shippping and the return as well.

These were my previous vista scores:
    # Processors (calculations per sec): 4.6// Now:4.9
    # Memory: 4.5// Now 4.8
    # Graphics (Aero): 2.9// Now 3.1
    # Gaming graphics: 2.4// Now 3.3 (Most happy about this)
    # Primary HDD (disk transfer rate): 4.8// Now 4.9

I had no extended plan or anything. Overall, it's real fast and better battery life. I have not tried any games yet, but with Hardware T&L, extra pipelines... I expect better performance. Not a gaming laptop, but good for light stuff.

So why do you hate the dual core? It seems stupid to hate a better processor (unless I'm completely misunderstanding you), but that's just me.

The older Yonah "Dual Core" processors (Not Core 2 Duo's) I thought inferior to the Turion X2 chips. I thought the "Pentium Dual Cores" were inefficient chips.
However, the T2310 is a "Core 2 Duo" at heart.... which I think is one of the best chips out there at this time.

That definitely makes sense, I just wasn't sure what you meant in your first post.

Well... I hope I can get that lucky! I just sent in my notebook yesterday for a new motherboard as my WIFI quite working as well. HP is pretty prompt as Fedex showed up with the box the very next day. I had called on Sunday. There were 555 responses for the same problem on HP service site, so I'm quite leery now. I'm thinking if they don't give me another notebook like they did you, I will sell mine as soon I get it back (before it quits again) and go back to using DELL.

There was a WIFI problem with my dv6000z as well, but once they replaced it, it worked fine and I haven't had problems since then. I believe they fixed the issue with the motherboard and the ones they are replacing are upgraded.

Well when 555 are having the same problem and many of them are not fixed when they get them back with a new motherboard... kinda makes me nervous. I use my notebook every day for about 8-9 hours for work, so I can't really afford downtime. Read some of the horror stories here...

Well I received mine back about 3-4 months ago and it's been working great every since.

Also, I don't know if you've received this or if it applies to you, but check out this website:

That was the link that HP themselves sent right to my email box. At least they're being up front about it and are very prompt so far. I like that.

The motherboard they replaced was an Apollo...never heard of them. However, they replaced with the same board and I had the same exact problem when I got it back.

Anyway, this computer really flies...I just hope I do not have the same problem. CPU-Z says it has a HP motherboard...wonder who makes them for HP or if HP makes them (which I doubt).

Also, is it only the AMD series lap tops that have this problem?

I was wondering something. After I put Acronis 11 on my old computer I noticed the drop in WIFI. Last night I put Acronis 11 on the new computer, restarted it and then did a "speed test"....was VERY slow and reacted the same. I then removed Acronis 11 and the problem was gone....coincidence?

Before I post the phone #, am I allowed to? I can send you a PM...
