Just got my HP Pavilion zx5000 from Fedex today (incidentally today was supposedly the estimated shipping date but it got here today, wooo), I'm on it right now. First impressions - wowowowowow. Freakin awesome. I'm loving it. I got 3.0 Ghz P4 w/ HT, 256 megs of ram then I added a 512 meg Kingston for a total of 768, took out the 40 gig 4200 rpm that came with it and put it in an external enclosure, replaced with a 60 gig 7200 RPM Hitachi, 128 meg Radeon 9600. This is probably the best machine I've ever used in my life... however take into consideration I'm generally a behind-the-times guy in terms of updating my computer, haha. I love it though, it's incredible. Haven't had a chance to run anything super demanding yet but Morrowind and Deus Ex ran flawlessly... I am so impressed. The screen is great, WXGA... I'm thinking maybe I should have gone for WSXGA being used to high-ish resolutions on my desktop, but still it's incredible. It's so bright and nice when plugged in, I'm wondering if they gave me a brightview by accident, haha. AHHHH it just couldn't be more perfect. People have complained about the weight (8-9 lbs I guess) but personally it doesn't bother me at all. I'll probably be trying to submit a full review sometime in the near future but I just wanted to say that first of all I highly recommend the zx5000 and HP based on my experience so far, and second I'd like to thank everyone on here so much who helped me make the right decision. It's truly perfect. Thanks again.

I noticed you said the screen is great "when it is plugged in". I am having a problem when it's not plugged in the screen gets dimmer, did you change that setting? I can't seem to find it in the display properties. I'm on hold with HP now but it's taking way too long. Anyone know how to change this setting?

No problem Sal Glad to help F7 decreases the Brightness. If u have the brightness already turned down, when your plugged in it automaticly increases it when you unplug it backs down turn it up manually using the function key.

    Sal,

I have a solution Hold down the Fn key and Press F8 that will turn the brightness up.
