There's still no concrete info out yet on the new units. The X6000 was just posted a day or two ago. Since the post said that it's still not yet announced, you're just gonna have to wait a while longer.

Heard a rumor that HP is going to launch their new notebook
in nov. Hopefully they will give better video cards. After all they
can let dell take all the marker share. -
I'm on the same page. Can't decide if I should get the R3000 series or the X6000 series. Currently, I have the V2000. It looks awesome, but I'm going to return it because it's a bit small to be a desktop replacement.
I love theX6000 because it looks almost the same as the V2000. My concern though is because the number pad is included, and you don't use the numberpad often, you'll be typing at the left of the screen rather than the middle of the screen & I'm afraid it might cause discomfort or eyestrain. -
Betty,
If you're concerned about the system types, why not get yourself a Compaq Presario R3000 Series. They look exactly like the V2000 & X6000 series. It has a 15.4" Wide LCD Screen and you'll be typing in the middle of the unit rather than off to one side.
Here's a picture of the unit.

You know betty77, I can't be sure, but in surfing around recently I may have seen a keyboard lay for the 6000. I believe, and please don't quote me on this that the number pad is on the rightside close to mousepad. I remember seeing this and thinking it looked strange and that you might constantly put your wrist all over the number pad when typing. It maybe another new laptop about to come out from someone else, but the mental image is there. Sorry I can't remember where Isaw it.

VABills,
The Compaq X6000 doesn't have the numberpad to the right of the glidepad. It's on the right side of the keyboard. All the images are located in the News section of the site.
Here's the top view of the X6000 keyboard layout:

Okay, must have been someone elses. Thanks. I have been looking at so many over the last month, I guess I confused it with a different one.
