    XMP enabled ?

    Hello , I have hp omen 17t and I have bought 2666 speed rams from crucial ballistix , the problem is they run at 2400mhz only but if used the xmp profile they will run at 2666 so is there a way to turn it on ?

    You cannot. HP disabled XMP on all their "consumer" notebooks because they consider it overclocking.

    Crucial 2666 RAM has JEDEC profiles for 2666 so this will work.

    How will I make them work at speed of 2666 ? Do I need to do something ? Coz when I used them they worked at 2400 only.

    I saw the ram you have and actually from reviews people gave on Amazon's site, that ram's default is 2400MHz but for 2666Mhz you have to enable it in the BIOS. Since there are basically no manufacturers that trust users with a laptop's BIOS, maybe with the exception of asus or alienware, those settings aren't available. If I were in your shoes, I'd return it and get some stuff that defaults at 2666MHz.

    I decided to just stick with the kingston 3200MHz stuff I bought and that seems to be running the XMP profile. I think if the memory has a specific XMP profile for 2666, the laptop will default to it and use it.

    Your RAM has at least some better timings then mine, so the higher price point is at least somewhat justified.

    I got the cheapest Hynix 32GB modules off Amazon, they're running fine at 2666 in dual channel. I'm not OCD enough to care about the timing, I'm sure you get what you pay for, the HP BIOS recognized and accepted them.
