Can anyone tell me why XP Pro is so much better than XP Home? Is it worth upgrading my zv6005US from home to pro?

I am currently reinstalling XP Home to get rid of all the crap that came on the system, will this truly improve performance in any way?

Unless you are in a heavily networked environment like a company or university, you likely won't see much of a benefit from XP Pro unless you have a Windows NT Domain Controller at home.

Pro also has other benfits, like being able to encrypt files and create full system backups that can be scheduled.

    Robcope,

XP Pro is not "better" than Home, it just have added features for advanced users (software developers) and networked environments.

Example, if you have a need for Visual Studio you will have to have XP Pro. Another good example, I used to run SQL Server Enterprise edition within my XP Home, but when I started to develop my own applications I had a need for the SQL Server Developers edition and that only runs within XP Pro. If you need IIS, only Pro has it.

One of the major advantages right now of XP Pro is that you can get mailed a free upgrade to XP x64 from microsoft. this will allow you to use your full 64bit capabilities. however, i'd just get it mailed and keep it until some more drivers come out. if you plan on sticking with 32bit capability and not planning to use xp pro additions, then stick with home edition. you can find out a lot more from microsoft.com
