XP drivers for dv9207us...and also I can't boot from Vista after installing XP

Hello,
I was having trouble getting used to Vista and decided to get XP and play around and see how good the laptop is in there. I went to bios, disabled sata native support and then installed XP on the same partition as Vista (bad idea right?) After the install, I have no idea how to boot back into vista.

Also in XP, I cant' find any drivers for my laptop. All the drivers I could find are: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3369389&lang=en . I have no ethernet driver so I can't connect online to download any drivers either.

How do I boot back into Vista and how do I get XP drivers for my new lappy? If I can't get Vista back, I'll use the recovery partition to grab the Vista drivers then do a clean vista format...how do I go through with this?

Use EasyBCD to recover the Vista bootloader in XP, instead of using the Vista DVD.

P.S. You did not install XP on the same path as Vista, did you?

 

dual booting on the same partition is never a good idea especially since alot of folders for vista and xp are named the same. so you may have simply installed xp over vista.

also as for drivers, go through the dv9000 driver pages and try some of the drivers there. the only issue would probably be the audio where HP have used two or more different chipset versions. what you could also do is check the dv9000 for vista drivers that match yours, then you know you have the same specs so you can use the XP drivers from the dv9000

 

The best way is a duel boot with three partitions What you have to do now is Do a recovery to bring back you notebook to factory state. Now you will have to make another partition and I hope you have at least 100gb hard drive. After your recovery you will have two partitions c drive vista and d drive your recovery drive. Now make one more partition using a third party software. partition manager is one. allow maybe 30gb for XP. After you install XP the notebook will only boot to XP You have to install Vista operating disc not the recovery disc and do a repair to bring back the boot manager in vista. Once that is done you will have a duel boot system. One bad thing about a duel boot system is you lose all your restore points in vista every time you boot into XP You can install easy bcd . When you install XP after vista you lose the boot manager in vista. When you go from XP to vista you have no problems. Now anybody want to no have to make a clone copy of a duel boot (one hard drive to another} I have a simple fix for that which microsoft loves me for.

I've found the chipset and geforce drivers so far. From the device manager, i need 3 base system device, 1 network controller, 2 pci device, and 1 usb device driver.

I"ll try the recovery partition. How do I initialize this since I can't get into Vista?

 

Woot EasyBCD worked!! Now I can boot back into Vista and make recovery disks

 

Got my sound working. Now all I have left is a PCI DEVICE and a USB DEVICE. I think the USB device is my webcam, since it doesn't work. I tried download the webcam drivers from hp.com but they do not work. I have no idea what the PCI device is yet.

Anyone know what drivers to use for these?

They are drivers for HP Pavilion DV9212-TX laptop. So it not guarantee to work with yours but I hope they work for yours as well.

 

for all the trouble you have and time spent if you have a little no how and a vista cd you can do a recovery and follow my instructions in a previous post and in an hour you will be good to go.

I'm not surprise if the webcam doesn't work. Because I actually got 2 DV9212-TX laptops. Both with same setting, dual boot and everything. But the webcam driver only works on one machine. Strange.

 

After all is said and done you are still going to have xp and vista on one partition. which will lead to a lot of problems.

 

I only did the xp and vista on the same partition thing to see how well xp would run. Right now I just have 5 partitions - 3 for linux, 1 for xp, and 1 for vista. This lappy is great!!! All these OSes are running so fast and well. They each boot up instantly and everything except the webcam works for all of them.

 

Any problems with the lightscribe or the tv tuner?

Did you manage to use the native SATA support once you installed the OSes?

Did you manage to fully use the remote controls in other OSes except Vista?
