Yeah, not sure why HP decided not to offer IDE, it's only a case of changing one bit in the nvram to enable it instead of AHCI.

Okay, the first thing you'll need to do is stream the AHCI drivers with the XP installation disk onto a new CD. Look for 'nLite' and the latest <strike>Intel</strike> ATI AHCI drivers, <strike>you will probably want the ICH9M driver </strike>. Try googling nlite + xp + ahci x86. Once you have XP installed it's then a case of finding the necessary drivers, again google is your friend. There is also a DV4t thread on this forum which may be worth trying.

Just a correction, the OP has an ATi chipset not Intel, so he/she will need to slipstream ATi SATA drivers.

HP sells business class notebooks like the 6535b with the same ATi chipset and Win XP. They do provide the SATA drivers for this chipset on the support site for those notebooks. Either slipstream that driver or try out Gigabytes SATA drivers as well. The Catalyst drivers from game.amd.com should work for the HD3200 and many of the Vista drivers should work fine in XP.

thanks for the replies! uh how would i slipstream the sata drivers? arent they supposed to be .inf format(using nLite), doesnt seem right to just extract and find only 1inf, because i remembering doing intel and they had like a million to choose from

when i installed the sata driver for 6535b it said trusted platform module could not be found, i downloaded the xp version FYI, but im on vista

Yeah, that should work. The chipset is the processor which simply put helps between the communication between the cpu and the components. The tx2500 shares majority of the hardware, so any of those drivers should work fine in your dv4z. As far as the 6535b ATi drivers are concerned are you looking at the right drivers? This is the one you need to slipstream the SATA drivers using nlite...

(download the extract the file and then use the infs extratecd in nlite)

wow miner you are a GENIUS, you don't know how happy i am after so many hours of searching up google and burning many disks of slipstreamed xp, the driver he posted http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ob-64232-1
is in fact the correct driver for the dv4-1155se

edit: all i need is the memory stick reader and sound now, and im done, i do have a sound icon on the bottom right but i hear nothing, and also my touch thingy is glowing red on the mute button. but isnt on the system tray. i can mute it though , but the red thing just doesnt go away, also im not able to control the brightness (FN f7/f8)

one more thing i have a yellow exclamation in my device driver "IDT High Definition AUdio CODEC" it has a code 10

    i have these http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g140/mrtuhwee/yellowexclamationandquestionmarks.jpg

why dont you try forcing the drivers you already have of vista... to xp...

i mean..like you install them regardless it is not vista... but be sure to download the ones of 32bit because I think as mine thati came with 64bit...

so try that and see how it works.. I will try it myself

With the correct working audio drivers the button shouldnt glow red. Try these IDT drivers which work on the dv5t which seems to have the same audio device as yours...

The brightness and other Fn keys are controlled by the Quicklaunch buttons software. The vista version should also be compatible with XP. Download that from the downloads section on HP.com

there is a way you can do it in xp..

you go to power options and select the brightness of your screen ... you can do this by going into advanced power options and modify it...

    thank you ...

    men about those recovery disks
I really need those and HP dont want to send them to me in mexico ...

    thank you

problem resolved haha... after messing around for awhile, i finally got the function to increase the brightness to my laptop to work. I can only do it upon start up before the xp logo starts to load, so i just turn on my laptop and adjust immediately according to my preferences and from there on proceed. Changing the brightness after start up will not work, but just a simple restart and another adjustment will do the job! Thanks everyone for the help!
