I am thinking about buying an HP Presario v6000z, and i was wondering (since it said so in the guide) where i can get an HP windows XP disc? The guide said they were sold for $10 on the site but alas i haven't found it. I want a disc so that in case Vista decides to just mess up i can always have a back up. But then i thought about it a little, and decided i want a Vista CD too. How much would that cost? I just want it for re-formats, and such, and even though some acquaintances have said that a Vista, and WinXP CD can only be acquired through getting an illegal version. I don't want to do that.. Can someone please help. I don't want to get my new notebook, and then find out that when i want/need to re-format and such i can't just pop in a CD on hand.

They no longer offer those $10 XP discs. They currently only sell the restore DVD's. HP on some models include a Vista upgrade disc which can be used to do a clean reinstall of the OS. Search for the thread titled 'Vista reinstall no activation' in the forums for a how to guide.

So that means i won't be able to get an XP disc on the cheap to dual-boot with vista so i can be able to use all the apps i need that are only compatible with XP? Hrm, does anyone know any other company that is selling XP discs?

You will only get one OS with the laptop. If you want a second OS, you must buy it yourself.

Would i be able to buy one off eBay, or even better here around that price? Legally of course.
