Hello people, I am a newbie to this site and I have been doing a-lot of reading not to mention reading problems especially with the bloatware installed along with your Vista, I have figured out how to prevent the bloatware even being installed from your recovery disk or partition, after getting this pavilion 9548ca with intel2 core duo, 2 gig ram, nvidia 8600 gs 256 meg, 2x160 gig hd, wireless a/b/g/n, Vista Ultimate 64 and more stuff, I looked at this setup with all the bloatware installed, I was idling at between 75 to 84 processes running in the background, this is ridiculous and mostly unacceptable, after uninstalling the bloatware and HP duplicated software (such as HP Wireless monitor, the Vista one works just fine, why have 2 running) I noticed still a ton of processes running, even though I uninstalled the bloatware, there was still running processes that were linked to the programs removed, then I had a look at the registry and it was a mess of useless keys and values, too much to manually clean and stay sane at the same time, I installed a registry cleaner and go most of it but since there were process left behind, many keys did not show up as duds, to make the story shorter, I have figured out how to prevent the bloatware from even being installed from the recovery disk or partition, thus leaving me with processes at idle between 45 and 54, my laptop now runs great and much faster not to mention I upped my windows score just a bit, before I go any further I would like to know if there is any interest to how to do this type of install and I will be happy to post the step by step, the reason I ask for interest in this is that it is going to be a long post but I have no problem spending time writing it if there is any interest.
    Thanks
    Sickpuppy

im sure it would fit o well in the dummy guides and articles section

alternatively you coul have installed vista completely from scratch and downloaded drivers and so on from the hp support website
which im sure would have been as much effective as your mntioned method
    cheers

Yes but the vista came packaged with the laptop and I didnt really want to pay for a new vista, its a good logical idea by why pay if you dont have too, I got to the point were I was going to buy a new os but after some study and alot of time, I figured out what the recovery install was doing.

Sweet! Sounds awesome, hope this is a good alternative to the windows anytime upgrade method (since we don't get the discs anymore)
