Aren't you HP owners lucky? :p

Kidding, kidding. Anyway. I think the DV6775US might be just the ticket for me. I shouldn't worry about the 1.67GHz CPU given that I just need it for word processing, movies, internet, the occasional game (nothing like Crysis or anything like that) and Photoshop. Should I? But my real question has to do with the ODD on this notebook. Right now DVDs, CDs, CD and DVD burning are really all I need to do with the ODD so far as well as just the usual stuff with it. However sometime down the road I might want to swap out the ODD with a Blu-Ray drive that reads and writes BD discs when the price drops to something I can actually manage. I understand that the standard on a lot of notebooks is 12.7mm unless it's something like a Sony in which case it would be 9.5mm. How about the drive on the DV6775US? 12.7mm? Also, would switching out this drive void my warranty?

Thanks again. You all seem quite nice. =)

no removing the drive would not void ur warranty, you just need to have the drivers ready on the computer b4 switching if there are any. also it would be an easy swap, there is one screw under the odd and if you remove it the drive slides out. much easeir than a desktop

What is the duration of your waranty? There is a strong chance that your Warranty might also expire by that time!

Well I don't plan to get an extended warranty with the purchase. I plan to wait 11 months and then extend it.
