Arrgggh it is right there in front of me!
I tried reasoning with YouCam, "Look, I can't possibly take it out without leaving a big ugly hole in my laptop."
But YouCam insisted, "No video device detected. Please plug a video device into your computer."
Annoying annoying. What do I do in this situation? It was working fine a few days ago.

I had this problem too and the cause for it was my USB hub. If you have a usb hub, try disconnecting it, restart your laptop, log in, plug in the usb hub, and try youcam again. It always works for me.
If not, probably a driver issue. -
Thanks ollirac! Restarted it with USB unplugged and it works perfectly now.

The only probalem with this is that you always have to start vista with the usb hub unplugged. It may not sound as much, but I don't really want to connect and disconnect every time I use my laptop. Hopefully there will be a fix. If not, i'm planning to get a quickdock so i can Just connect to the expansion base port with all my usb devices and ethernet.
Probably the newer dv2700 series have this usb hub error, because the older dv2500 and dv2000 are mostly the driver errors. So probably HP did fix the driver problem, but this causes another problem with usb hubs. -
I thought it was more of a random occurrence. I've never unplugged my wireless mouse in the past one or two weeks, but I did not encounter any problem with YouCam.
I'm going to try starting vista with USB plugged and see what happens. But need sleep now. 2AM. Very sleepy.
Youcam no video device detected?
