I am considering buying nx 8420 sometime this summer, before school starts, but I would love to hear the opinion of those that have bought nx 8420 - I know it hasn't been long on the market, but still - someone must have bought it and either loved it or hated it :)

I would also love to know how much you paid for it (and with what specs) and where from.

Can you tell me one store that sells the NX8420? I've checked USA, Canada and Europe and I can't find it.

Perhaps, but why isn't the nx8420 in the shops??? I'm gonna buy a laptop before school starts, but if nx8420 will not be available any time soon (even though there are info about the computer at their website, and I've downloaded a data sheet!) I will be purchasing a Dell laptop

At the moment, I don't think nx8420 is available much anywhere. It'll probably pop up sooner or later, but I don't know if it will come to the US, because its predecessor, nx8220, was not available there.

I've gotten a reply from HP UK and they say that n8420 will be released in july or august. I just hope that it won't have the recovery partition on the hard drive! And how come the recovery cd's aren't free from HP?

Those are among the thousands of other questions (If anyone here has an answer to, I sure would love to hear them) that I will propably bombard the HP UK with ;)

    [Edit: No, it's X1600]

I just like to inform you all that the NX8420 uses a X1300 GPU. Found it here. I will not buy it because of that. I can't really say I'm surprised that they use a more low cost solution than with the NC8430, but I think it's a very big step between a X1300 and a X1600. The 17" counterpart, the NX9420, uses X1600 and cost less than the NC8430.
Now I'm looking at the NC8430 (too expensive) and the NX9420 (too big)....
I have to admit though that I really like the design!

Maybe this is old news, I dunno.

I ain't computer savvy, so I don't know if you are talking about the graphics card, but I assume that you are and all I see at that page is "ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256 MB HyperMemory" on the HP nx8420

    Yes, you're right!!!

They have actually changed the text. They had 3 configurations earlier, and they all showed X1300. It's really good that they have changed it.

JTH: Did you check my link back when I posted it?

Isn't Hypermemory shared with the CPU??

    Thanks Tommi.

The reason for all this confusion is this site at HP Taiwan. First they said it used X1300, and now (which I forgot to give the link to earlier) they're saying it's X1600 with Hypermemory.
