Good morning from new member. I received my new HP DV6000 and it came in with the non-brightview display when I had ordered the brightview. (Or at least thought I had)
I use this mainly for office apps and a bit of graphic design but I also wanted this lappy for watching DVDs and displaying photo proofs to customers.
Before sending this back and reordering with the correct display I was just curious whether or not I would really benefit from it for what I use it for. Do I have any other options such as a NUshield (?) screen protector for sharper images?
I appreciate the help.

I struggled with this decision also, the glossy screen is a eye catcher but does suffer from glare. I think it really comes down to personal preference, some adapt to the glare and some don't. I went with the matte screen and glad I did.

I would suggest personally looking at the screens at your local retail store before taking a decision as viking just suggested it depends on individual preference. I personally like the brightview(glossy) screens and the glare issue is not too big of a issue for me since I use most of the times away from any source of light and adjusting the laptop usually gets rid of any glare.

I appreciate the feedback. I looked at similiar models at CompUsa with the gloss screen and thought it very "sexy" and that the colors really popped off the display. That is why I ordered mine with one. But when it arrived without and knowing I will have to return this and reorder to get the correct one...well I just don't know what I should do. I have 19 more days to decide. I spend a great deal of time on my lappy and my 45 year old eyes could sure do without any additional strain. Just wondered how others felt.

My last laptop had a glossy screen I hated the glare so my current laptop display is matte and I have been very pleased with it.

My Brightview screen has a barely noticeable slightler-darker stripe in one small area. Don't know if it has anything to do with the brightview technology itself.
Anyway, I've seen lots of laptop screens, and I really do prefer it. That being said, either really is sufficient. -
My brightview is awesome. It shows true colors for everything.

I went through this dilemma two years ago when I bought my first laptop. I went with the matte screen and regretted eversince. My friend has a vaio brightview notebook and that thing is a thing of beauty. There's some reflection at first, but as you get used to it, you wont notice a thing. The brightview of the dv2000 I saw at Circuit City is so bright and beautiful, the dv6000 should be the same. I suggest you buy the brightview screen, your dvd movie will be completely different.
If you plan to use the laptop outdoor, the matte screen wont guarantee you any better performance. My matte screen when use in sunlight is unuseable. I cannot see a thing. -
You know since I really wanted that display, and it is not what I received, I think I would always be a bit disappointed in the unit. It's going back. Another 2 weeks of watching my order status. Thanks for input!
