Hi.
The 15 G4 BIOS had detailed performance menu options like Multi Core Support, SpeedStep, TurboBoost, HyperThread control etc..
The new 15 G5 has a super basic BIOS settings, similar to those found in the low end laptops. No way to modify CPU performance options.
Disappointing!
-
To be fair, 90% of those settings would be useless considering the G5 is quiped with locked processors.

Stop lying please -
Those settings were available on the G4, not available on the ZBOOK G5.

No problem felidae, pictures from my post are from 15 G5 with E2186M/P2000, you have an entry level 15V model (the lowest model of them all).
-
Similar spec G4 (7700HQ, 620 2GB) had those settings without paying for "Xeon"
-
You still dont get it do you? You bought a "value" (hence the V) entry level workstation aimed at students and hobbyists (thus not business class), and you´re complaining about missing settings aimed at enterprise? Get a non-V model and you´ll have your settings back.
-
It is actually you that miss the point here (for the second time and with a bad manner too..)
The CPU performance settings were available as a default for the entire G2 To G4 range. The removal of those from the basic models is not expected and disappointing.
Anyone who need those settings, owned a previous ZBOOK, and thinks of an upgrade to G5, will be surprised to hear that this menu is now considered "enterprise" and is exclusively available for "Xeon" customers haha. -
Again, you miss the point and talking about my manners (yet they clearly state that you bought some model line, along with reasons).
This is not a "xeon-thing", we deployed several G5s with i5 even, and settings were there. Maybe someone will be able to explain to you that your concern is the 15V. not the G5. Anyone willing to upgrade from G4 will not go for a 15V model, because that one is targeted towards different audience.
You clearly didn´t read the quickspecs and you´re now blaming whole G5 line, making excuses for Xeon CPUs, yet fail to admit that you made the mistake. -
You are right reptile.
Just figured out that there are (at list) 2 model lines:

My apologies. -
Hey Tiger555,
I wonder if you found any solution to adjusting performance settings on the bios of the 15v? I prefer this model because it allows you to add two drives, whereas the 15u can only have a single drive. That's a big price to pay just to have a thinner laptop. Other than that, they are pretty much exactly the same from a technological perspective.
Thanks. -
Hi
Unfortunately not -
i have something near your issue some features hidden from bios , like NFC & Fingerprint . and still searching how to appear them
-
You wont, they are controlled by FeatureByte and BuildID, you would need a MPM and correct FB/BID to be able to tell the firmware to show them
-
-
You cant, HP wont help, you ordered a machine with specific config, that is there to stay
-
But m
ZBOOK 15 G5 BIOS - No more advanced performance settings
