My ZD8000 has become very unstable, as reinstalling does not help I want to format the HD but in Computer management the option is greyed out.
Could somebody help me out, if this has been the subject of a previous discussion I apologise and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
    Thanks

Well it's pretty obvious that you can't format your C: drive from within Windows as that's where Windows itself resides. Reinstalling will format your drive anyway.

I think your laptop could be overheating. Is your fan running properly? Check temperatures with software such as CoreTemp or Everest.
