    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone here had their motherboards replaced from HP regarding the faulty nVidia go5700 to an ATI graphics card.

I'm not sure if this is normal for a notebook (or computer) equipped with an ATI X600 gpu, but doesn't at least one fan come on spinning when you power up the unit? Prior to the gpu replacement, my cpu fans are always steadily 'on' and gradually blows faster when the temperature rises, then down. Now my fans are not even moving when I start the machine. It only blows at 'full blast' when the cpu temp rises, then goes to a dead silent.

I've heard that the ZD8000 series w/ ATI cards do this also, is this true?

its suppose to only rise when the temp goes up.

...meaning the two fans are 'off' at all times until it senses a certain temperature for it to spin?

You probably now have a different BIOS version than you had prior to the GPU replacement, and that's what causing then fans to kick in differently than before.

You're right, the version of BIOS running now is F.38 compared to when it was F.34 from the old board. I've tried reinstalling the previous version and got an error message saying that it is not compatible with my system/motherboard. Guess I'll just have to get used to and try to live with it...for now.
