    Hey Guys ,

    Need some quick help - i'm undecided between a ZD7000 and a ZX5000 . Here's the config i want to buy ...

    CPU - Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.40 GHz
    Memory - 512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
Hard Drive - 40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
    Primary CD/DVD Drive - DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
    Networking - 802.11b Wireless LAN
    Display -15.4" WVA WXGA (1280x800)
    Graphics Card - 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) 9200
Primary Battery - 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

For this config , which would be a better machine ? ZD7000 is 100 bucks more than ZX5000 . Is ZD7000 a better design and hence a better performing machine or are they both the same ? And the battery ?

Need this info ASAP - i'm buying my laptop within the next 24 hours and i'm currently leaning towards a ZX5000 .

    Thanks !!!

Both machines have good designs for what they are designed for. The zd7000 is a "desktop replacement" that can be easily relocated. The zx5000 is a large notebook. The zx5000 will outlast the zd7000 hands down on battery life. The zx5000 also has a wuxga (1920 x 1200) option on the display as well as a portable microdeive that can connect to other pc's and devices via a usb cord, in addition to built in bluetooth. These different features not found on the zd7000 are important if you need to view high resolution images frequently, need an on hand media bridge, and want to communicate with other bluetooth devices ie wireless mouse and hey board, cameras, phones,ect... Yoy will not like the wuxga setting if you use that resolution for office and web surfing. 70% of the time that you ar e on the computer. You will set the resolution down.

The zd 7000 will be your machine if you require high end processing and graphics capabilities. The chipset in the zd7000 is the intel 865pe which enables greater graphics and processsing power. This core logic fully enables hyperthreading with duel channel memory and the ability to run ram at 400 mgz (pc3200). The zx5000 has an 855 chipset which is a mobile chipset and will conserve power but only opperates at 333mgz and very limited hyperthreading capability.

Choose the zd7000 if you need power and graphics.this achine also has the media center option. Which is great! this will act as a pvr, personel video recorder. If you like to game this is also your machine. This will be much better at multi tasking.cannot plug in on airplanes. Too big for airplane tray.

Choose the zx5000 if you need battery life and portability. This is a nice machine to move around with. as in class, or airplanes.

Actually both will work great with graphics, considering that you can get the zx5000 with a ATI Radeon 9600 M10 and be just fine.
