Hi, I have a new HP Pavilion ZD7168cl with a 3.06mhz processor, 512mb RAM, 80gb HD, and one of the features that come with it is a S-Video jack where you can connect an optional S-Video device and I have a composite television.
The manual saids that composite devices can only be connected to the notebook when it is in an optional HP Notebook Expansion Base.
I have a S-video to composite cable and I've tried to connect it and it did not work.
Do I have any chance of connecting my notebook to my composite television without buying the expansion base? Thank You.

I think HP has an All-In-One video cable that attaches to the connector on the right of the unit. I don't know if it has a Composite connector, but it's worth a check. Another option is to get an S-Video to Composite (RCA) converter box, it's possible your cable was not compatible. There's also a VGA to Composite converter that will allow you to connect your RGB Video from your notebook to this box.
