    Hi

Ive got a ZD8000 laptop and seem to be having a problem with the graphics card , ive been recommended to come to this forum from a member on www.ntsc-uk.com :)

Anyway a few days ago i started having a problem with my screen being quite garbled and would black out and not work unless i turnt it off and then back on again , this happened when i went to use it after i left the computer on screensaver for about 2hrs one day

I was gettng a VPU Recover error so i presume it is the graphics card at fault , ive managed to turn down all the accelarator hardware down and im still getting a garbled screen but no black out now , ive tried reinstalling the drivers with no luck and ive flashed the BIO's and still no luck

The card is an radeon x600 mobility

so can anyone help me please or maybe i need a new card ? is it possible to get an upgrade card for my computer or replacement ? and if so can anyone recommend someone that can install it in the UK , i live in southampton UK

Pic here , thats ment to be a black screen btw :p

    Please help ,,

    Hi there trev.

I have a Pavilion ZD 8000 and a few months ago I had the exact same problem.

You're video card has been fried.

So, you're going to need a new motherbord...

If your notebook is still under warrenty HP will sort it out (As they did with me)

    I hope this helps.

oh :( no i dont think its under warranty , i bought it from www.vizik.com around may 05

I think they come with a 12 month warranty

Would HP replace my motherboard at a cost ? and do you have a contact email

    Thanks
    Trev

Usually the motherboards are the main cost of the laptop, and buying a new notebook could be cheaper.

I don't think HP has a 'one price, fix all' type of thing.

Being the price of components are so different, both the consumer and HP would get screwed if they charged the same amount for any fix.
