I was using my ZD8000 today on a 300watt power converter today at work and I noticed that the mouse was acting very strange. It was jumping around and some times click on links without me wanting it to. Oh, BTW I was using the touch pad. Anyways I unplugged it and ran it with the battery only and WAL LA, it was working normally again. Do I need a bigger converter, or should I just not run it with one at all?

    Thanks

Ive had this problem before, when you leave the touchpad it stops? n when you just touch it its starts. Ive had this problem with my desktop computer.. it doesn't last more than a minute but i have to right click on the desktop and it stops.

This lasted a lot longer than a minute. I was doing some work on there and finally I couldn't control the mouse because it just kept jumping and clicking on random things. After about 6 or 7 minutes of this I just unplugged the power source from the vehicle and then it started acting normal again. So it's just limited directly to my 300watt power converter.

It's possible it might not be providing enough volts/amps that the unit needs to operate properly. Check the AC adapter and see what the specs are and then compare to what the converter can provide.

I'd make sure the power inverter provides clean power, if it doesn't then it could most definately be causing the problem, replacing the power inverter with a different/higher-quality one might solve the problem. Also try an external mouse of some sort and see if you get the same result. Touchpads operate on the principle of capacitance and unclean power could be interfereing with its ability to function right.

What would you recommend on one to buy? I can't remember what kind this one is because it's kind of old, but I think I got it from best buy or one of them type of places. I usually don't have my usb mouse with me at work, but I'll try that tomorrow and see what happens.

Spend a couple extra bucks on it. Make sure its not a square wave, they can wreck havok with eletronic devices. I'd at least make sure its a modified sine wave, most eletronics will be happy with it. It should say somewhere on the package what kind of wave it produces.

I have seen all kinds of different brands out there. What would you suggest going with?

I use a 225 watt MAXX SST power inverter that I found at Target for $20. It uses a modified sine wave and seems to work just fine with both my Gateway 7422GX and AVERACTEC 3270.
