Hi Guys,
I just picked up, two weeks ago, an HP ZD8060CA and it clearly states the following on the online PDF file:
"Carry SD cards (sold separately) in the INCLUDED HP USB Digital Drive for ultimate mobvility and store it in the intergrated bay for convenience."
Well, it wasn't in the sealed box and it isn't in the integrated drive bay so I called HP Tech Support who didn't even know what a USB Digital Drive was. Finally, after I hand-held him to the PDF file, he left me on hold for 15-20 minutes and came back stating that I was right that it is supposed to be included however if it wasn't in the box then it isn't included any longer.
It had called HPSHOPPING the day before I bought mine and they assured me it was included, then I asked the salesperson at the store and he assured me that it was included "especially if it says it right at the website", so I bought it and an additional SD card so that I would be set to go.
The tech guy told me I could buy one and he transferred me to a girl who did not know what that part was and told me to call the business services department. I told her my dilemma and she told me that it sounds like false advertising to her. Nice girl.
Instead of calling business services, I called HPSHOPPING again and they once again told me that it is included. I told him what the tech guy said and he said that his information says it is included.
I wrote to HP two weeks ago and they told me the issue has been escalated but nobody has gotten back to me since. I really would like to keep this notebook but I don't like the way I have been treated. I have not had a problem with HP prior to this.
My question is, finally, has anyone who ordered a ZD8060CA received the USB Digital Drive as well? Please note that the digital drive is different from the 6 in 1 card reader.
Thanks for any help![]()

Sorry I can't help you on this, I haven't purchased a zd8000, but I had a similar issue in which I got a Toshiba M45 notebook that said it had an ExpressCard slot. It did not, though the website and even product documentation said it did. Toshiba said that if I was unhappy about this I could return the laptop and offered no money back for the fact I bought a product that advertised having something it did not. Obviously this is an illegal practice and any lawyer could win a case against a company for such actions, but we all mostly have better and more important things to do in our lives. Shame on manufacturers for not knowing what the heck they're even selling to consumers, an obvious byproduct of a company too large and also too uncaring of consumers. You might want to take your business elsewhere simply on principal...though I totally understand the desire to keep a product that's fine aside from one issue and the hassle with returning something and getting another is pretty high.

Hi SoloMio,
I would make sure you made copies of the webpage before they change it as well as make copies of anything else you have to document this. I would keep on them, they should send you something since it is in the notebook spec., but what is strange is that they did not specify a size for the "drive" Usually a USB digital drive means "USB Thumbdrive"
Can you post the link to this? that would help us to help you figure this out.

I just found more info on what this is.

Basically it is just an SD memory card to USB adaptor, they are very cheap and HP should just send it to you, but you may have to complian a little who knows.
If your digital camera does not use SD memory, don't go out and buy any SD memory to use this; a USB thumbdrive will be cheaper, smaller and easier to use.

Thanks to both Jack and Abaxter.
I do realize that it is simply a USB drive but what was nice is that it fits right inside a side slot of the notebook. This is perfect to ensure it doesn't get misplaced.
I suppose I will wait another week for HP to get back to me as I would think that they would at least let me know for certain that they do not want to help me with this.
I appreciate your input. I'm tempted to go buy another one at a different store so that I can check the contents of the boxas I'm really wondering if it is supposed to be included or not.

HP's customer support initially seems to be lacking, doesn't it? India call centers are the (seemingly) only options that you have to try to get some satisfaction, but rest assured that HP will in fact send you the drive. You just gotta speak to the right people. Very recently, I had one of those experiences with HP that made me want to tear my hear out and beat up a nun in frustration. After 3 snail-mail letters to the (newly retired) CEO, VP of Human Resources, VP of Marketing, and VP of Customer Relations, I got a shiny new laptop trade-in instead of my year old one I began with.
Here's the thing- check out HP's website for phone numbers other than the ones that get routed to India, or call 411 for their corporate office number. It's somewhere in Northern California. Do you have a link supporting the fact that it's supposed to be included? The ZD8060 that I received from HP as a replacement for my ZD7000 has the drive bay, but no drive either. I might follow my own advice and make sure I get one sent to me, too.
ZD8060CA comes with USB Digital Drive??
