    First, the 9000 is an "ancient" card.

    Second, shared memory=crappy performance. Get a notebook with a vid card with designated memory.

    If you want to play games you should look at the R3000T Dedicated or a HP zx5000 and you can get those for about the same price if you find a good rebate online.

    zx5000 :: 2.4M :: 512 DDR :: 40gb 4200 RPM HD :: 15.4" :: Radeon 9600 Mobilty M10 :: Aquamark3 21,862

    This topic does bring up a concern I have, regarding shared vs. dedicated memory. I've (finally) narrowed my choices down to 3 HP brand notebooks, one of them being the zv5160. However, all 3 of the ones I'm considering have shared memory, and after reading some of the posts in this forum, I am worried about this feature. I'm not a hard-core gamer - in fact, I do next to no gaming at all, mostly Internet and word processing - but I'd like to play DVD's once in a while. Is shared memory, like that in the zv5160us, okay for this type of usage, or should I hold out for dedicated memory?

    From my knowledge, you're normally fine with DVD's and an integrated gpu. There's nothing so intense involved with DVD's that an intergrated card would actually have a problem displaying.

    As it's been said lotsa times around here (so much so that even I can reply with confidence) you're fine with integrated. Just don't try to play any high end, DX 9 games with that integrated video card of yours

    I have integrated graphics and a PM 1.0. DVD's play perfectly, you have no need for worry.

    I have a compaq presario from the 2100 line with integrated 64MB Radeon graphics, shared, and I can run UT2004 like a dream... I just have to turn the detail levels and resolution down.
