I've had this LT for a few years. It has developed this random shutdown problem. For no apparent reason, it will just shutdown. Has anyone else experienced this issue

The heatsink is probably choked with dust by now and your CPU is overheating, forcing thermal shutdown. Ideally I'd get the service manual from hp.com, take the notebook apart and clean it that way.
