I am just wondering which of these configurations would be better for me. I am a highschool student and I will probably be bringing the computer to school and using the wireless network.

    Dv4000
Windows XP Home (Will upgrade later)
    Intel pentium M 730 1.6GHz
    15.4 WXGA BrightView
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
    512MB (2X256MB)
    60 GB 5400
    DVD+/-RW/R CD-RW Combo
    Intel 2200 B/G/Bluetooth
    Extra 6 cell battery

    or

    Windows XP Home (upgrade later)
    AMD Athlon64 3500+
    15.4 Brightview widescreen
    128MB Ati Radeon XPRESS 200M
    512MB (2X256)
    60GB 5400 HD
    DVD+/-RW/R CD-RW combo
    Extra 12 cell

I know the zv6000 is heavier and thicker, but is it enough to make a difference? Which one would you recomend?

    Thanks.

I agree with Rahul, performance wise the zv6000 is better but is heavier. Use it as a desktop replacement laptop & it should be a good option, but if you are looking to be mobile with the laptop then lighter is always better.

If you want to use the laptop as a DTR then get the ZV6000, if you want a mobile laptop then the dv4000 or even some 14" laptops like the dv1000/v2000 which are definately more easy to carry around.

It depends, the GPU of the ZV6000 is better, its better for gaming. But the DV4000 is lighter and gets better battery life. Plus, it comes with a remote and QuickPlay. It depends on your needs.

    *Update*

I decided on the ZV6000. I will be using this mostly at home, traveling once or twice a month at the most. I ordered two 12 cell batteries so I should be ok. I decided I would rather take the faster processor over the lighter weight. I am giving my dv1000 to my sister, and I will write a review on the ZV6000 as soon as I am used to it. It will be built by June 16 and I ordered the standard 5-7 day shipping. It it safe to say it will be here between the 23rd and the 25th? I've never dealt with the HP Shopping website before, and I know that all companies times are different when it comes to shipping estimates.

    Thank you.
