[8D] OK,I recived my new zx5000 3.0HT and planning to give my Dell 5150 3.01HT to my daughter. Compared to the Dell I cant belive what a girlyman bios the zx5000 has. Not only is there no option to shut off the HT (which really improved proformence if your not using HT programs)but I havent found any evidence that their is an HT chip installed. Dell gives you many clues in the startup screen and bios, I also havent found a way to change screen brightness modes on battery. Anyone out their now how to control the HT chip performance? For all I know their putting in standard 3.0 chips in Shanghi...

if you go to device manager you can look under the processor's and see there are 2 listedm be cause the HT makes windows think there are 2. I'm sorry I don't know of anyway to turn it off. You mentioned screen brightness to change this you must hold down the Fn button and use F8 to brighten and F7 to dim. Hope this helps.

OK, thanks. I guess Im just a little spoiled with Dells BIOS tools which give you at least some proformance options and certifies that there is an HT chip inside. Boy oh boy, if I crack this babby open and dont find an HT processor, there will be negative posting pay back.

About screen brightness using F8 and F7. I tried this, but the brightness only goes up 2 levels. I know I don't have my brightness control all the way up.

I can verify that it is an HT processor. I got my ZX5000 a few weeks back and the first thing I did is Lap the Heatsink, and the processor is indeed a 3.0HT. If you need pics of it I have them.

Screen brightness: My screen has 10 levels using Fn + F7 and F8.

I guess its normal. 10 settings. I just have mine on higher brightness. I have noticed if I change it under control panel, that that will make a difference also.

Changing the Brightness under the 'Display' panel will change the actual Value of the pixel (IE Lightening the actual color) whereas the brightness on the Fn keys are the backlight strength.
