First off I received mine in 8 days. Hat goes off to HP and there shipping. Installing everything went smoothly since it's preloaded. Had a little delay with my wireless network because I didn't realize my network security wasn't setup so after I installed Norton's it ran perfect.
Here are my specs...
- Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.80 GHz
- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition
- 15.4" WXGA (1280x800)
- 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) 9200
- 512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
- 60 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
- DVD/CD-RW Combo
- 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
- 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
I'm not a big gamer nor-do I need a really powerful machine. As you can tell I went with mostly default settings except for the 60 gig and b/g. I didn't want to spent more than $1100 and I didn't! For the price I payed and the features I received would have costed me $1300-$1500 at any other company.
Screen is great even though it's not a brightview (Heard too many negative thing about it). This baby runs smooth. Speakers are very crisp, which comes in handy for me because I do a lot of live recordings on my PC since I'm a DJ. Connected to the Internet very quickly with no problems after I set my security settings. I LOVE the keyboard. Big back space button which is a plus and the keys are very light when you hit them, with very little sound. As for the machine, the sound is very light when operating. Watched a DVD ran without any interruptions while online and a few other apps running. Haven't tried burning a CD yet. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and would like to thank everyone who helped me out on my decision and answered any of the questions that I asked.
I will get into a more detailed review when I have the chance.

What Negative things did u hear about the bright View? I praise the brightview its the Best screen HP offers, same with the other Companys Offerings Xbrite Tru View Crystal view they are all excellent, i dont know what negative things people would say.
And congratulations on recieving your Zx5000 -
the screen bleeding/ Light leakage i have that too it doesnt bother me, the Clarity of the screen and this utter beast of a laptop out wiegh that by far i am glad i spent the Extra $ and went with the brightview. and no i dont believe u can Swap the LCD. Check the settings in the display control panel monitor properties it may say something about that or close to it Screen dimming.

I seen alot of ppl complaining about it bleeding on the bottom of the screen. My screen is fine but im sure the brightview is a dramatic difference. Is there a way to upgrade that later on(juat curious)? Quick question about the display when I take the ac adapter out the screen dims a little bit. Is there a way to take this setting off?

I hope to add my own next week. I went for the brightview option, and I know I will like it. Saw it in person at Best Buy and there really was not comparison. I didn't notice any leakage.
